Hi, just a reminder that the V2R Controller, based on the Adafruit Trinket M0, has supported Neopixel, WS2812B, and WS2812E LEDs as a backend for VDASH-EMU since day one. This setup offers a practical way to integrate addressable lighting into a DIY sim racing display.
VDASH-EMU runs as a client application of OpenSR.
OpenSR is a 100% free and open-platform middleware designed to bridge applications that send data or telemetry, such as games, to motion simulators, digital dashboards, and hardware. VDASH-EMU receives this telemetry and displays real-time data including shift lights, flag LEDs, speed, position, lap times, delta times, tire temperatures, oil/water temperatures, fuel levels and hundred more data with all supported games by OpenSR.
Using V2R (Virtual To Real) Technology, VDASH-EMU drives the V2R Controller as if it were physical hardware. The controller manages multiple RGB LED sections simultaneously. I have configured the firmware to handle a 15-segment RPM LED bar, a 6-segment flag indicator, and 4 additional customizable LEDs. All LED settings are fully configurable within VDASH-EMU, allowing users to map shift lights, gear indicators, flags or other telemetry parameters to specific patterns.
Also, VDASH-EMU natively supports all USB VoCore screen sizes, including the 4-inch, 4.3-inch, 5-inch, 6.8-inch, 10-inch, and the new Round screen. The setup works seamlessly with the VoCore screen, where the LEDs surrounding the display are driven by the V2R Controller via VDASH-EMU. The controller also exposes virtual buttons and axes, simulating a physical button box with 32 virtual buttons and 3 virtual switches that can be assigned in any supported game.
This project is part of the EKSIMRacing foundation initiative to provide reliable, low-cost tools for the sim racing community. It is designed to let users build custom hardware without relying on expensive proprietary solutions.
